Asst. Prof. Blaženka Martinović
She was born in 1977 in Nova Gradiška, where she graduated from a general-programmme secondary school. She studied Croatian language and literature and history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Pula. She worked in elementary schools in Pula for a short period of time. In 2001 she enrolled at the postgraduate scientific study of Croatian studies (language course) at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. In 2008 she defended her dissertation in the field of normative accentology entitled Noun Accent Dilemmas in the Standard Croatian Language.
From May 2001 until September 2008 she was a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy in Pula, presently named Department of Humanities. From 2008 to 2010 she worked as a Senior Assistant. On 12 July 2010 she took up the position of an Assistant Professor.
During the academic year 2003/2004 she was the instructor of Croatian language (Intermediate and Advanced Croatian) at the University of Indiana (Indiana University, Bloomington Campus) in the United States. She attended courses on general linguistics and Polish language at the same university. She also gave a lecture on accentual fluctuations at the Institute of Slavic Studies in Graz in January 2009.
At the University of Pula she participated in the development of courses and programmes within the framework of the Bologna process. She is currently teaching the following courses: The accentual system of standard Croatian, Proofreading, The morphology of standard Croatian, Word formation and lexicology, The theory of standard language.
She has held several workshops on making detailed operational curricula and the application of the Regulations for Evaluation of University Lecturers. She is a member of working groups which monitor the compliance of the University's academic programmes in terms of learning outcomes. In December 2008 and February 2009 she also attended specialization courses on independent external evaluation of the quality assurance system in higher education (quality assurance auditor in higher education) in Zagreb. Within the Tempus projects she has participated in several workshops whose aim was to promote the quality of teaching activities. Also, in 2007 she participated in the workshop of the Forum for Freedom in Education titled Active learning and critical thinking in higher education.. In April 2012 she took part in the training program for lecturers dedicated to ways of customizing the academic environment for students with disabilities (within the Tempus project).
She is a member of Matica Hrvatska and Croatian Philological Society. At the University she was a member of the Quality Committee, and then the Senate. Also, she was the head of part-time study of Croatian Studies and the Head of the Department of Croatian Studies. She has been a member of the Commission for internal audit of the quality system since 2011 and since 2013 she has acted as Head of the Section for Language.
RESEARCH
The main area of her scholarly work is normative accentology, morphology and the theory of standard language. She has participated in around twenty scientific conferences at home and abroad. She was also collaborated on three research projects (leader prof. PhD. Ivan Zoričić, prof. PhD. Branko Tošović and prof. PhD. Josip Silić).
